I have been involved in the silviculture industry for the past 38 years. I started my career as a rookie in the summer of grade 11 and have planted in all corners of the province. I moved on to a Foreman role in 1993 with Blue Collar Silviculture, where I ran large crews for many years. Following being a Foreman, I stepped up to supervise and continued to run big planting camps in Cariboo. I started Torrent Silviculture in 2006.
Planting has been my life. It has given me the freedom to pursue all my other interests for the last thirty-some years, including skiing, school, and spending a lot of time in the mountains of BC, where I still get my enjoyment and happiness today.
I hold high expectations for myself and my employees and try to provide the best working environment possible in the industry. I strive to be an industry leader in silviculture and pass on my career to future generations.
Hi, my name is Kevin and I have been working with Davin since the beginning of Torrent off and on as the primary camp and quad guy. Wherever there is a problem or maintenance required that’s where I’ll be. I now work year round for Torrent between the planting program, maintenance guy and Torrent’s logging operations throughout the winter. Born and raised in Horsefly BC, I now live in Quesnel BC with my lovely wife. During my time off I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, fly fishing, sledding and motorbiking.

Hello my name is Jesse, I have worked for Torrent for roughly 18 years. I work year round, all four seasons in the bush. I run fire fighting crews, brushing/spacing crews, fire abatement crews, slash burning crews and help out with planting season by cutting trails, laying out blocks and maintaining camps. My time with Torrent has brought me to some of the most beautiful places all over the province, performing different tasks with the changing seasons. I could not imagine doing anything else.
Hey Claudio Espinoza, i’m a Foreman here at Torrent. I’ve working with Torrent for the last eight years, however and I have been tree planting for over 30 and have 20 years foreman experience all over BC and Alberta. Throughout the year I work at tree Planting and I also do other bush work with Torrent like firefighting, slash pile burning and such. I enjoy working at Torrent. I find it’s a great company that is very progressive, well organized, treeplanter friendly. I enjoy working outdoors, building comradery and sharing good times, which I think are the best parts of tree planting. In the off-season I live in the Kamloops area where I work as a first aid attendant. In my free time I enjoy hanging out, hiking and I enjoy spending time with my dogs Lola and Pixie.

Hello, my name is Gordon Ley and I have been with Torrent for 5 seasons now and have been running a crew for 2 of them. I’ve worked in the industry for 10 years and planted for 9 different companies and there are many reasons why I stay with Torrent. I like to keep a relaxed vibe on the crew and to have a little fun when possible. Some people call me a gamer, but I never play games with safety. I have a dog named Stella, she is friendly and plays well with other dogs.
I started planting 8 years ago here at Torrent as a rookie. I have ventured to almost every corner of British Columbia to plant trees. I’ve been following work with my 6 year old Border Collie Avigale. The Queen of bear dogs. I have an intense sporting back ground but these days you can find me ski touring or fishing for salmon in the PNW. I put real pride into what I do and thrive when I’m surrounded by like-minded people. I look forward to working with you this season.
30 plus years in Industry, 20 plus years foreman. Million plus Km of bush driving experience. Certified first aider 25 years competent not just certified. First day of the season is still one of my favourite days of the year but so is the last day of the season. If you’re willing to work hard, put in a good tree and be part of a crew, I’m a great guy to work for, if that doesn’t describe you you’re in the wrong truck.

My name is Laurie and I am the Supervisor for Torrent Silviculture. I have been working in various aspects of the forestry industry for the past 22 years and have been working with Torrent for the past 18. I have worked all over BC and spent a couple summers in Alberta. I am a hardworking person dedicated to making life as a planter as straightforward as possible.
I now spend most of my time off in Salmo, BC with my two children (13 and 15) biking, skiing, snowboarding, playing in the woods with our dogs and going on adventures.
