Davin Green

Owner of Torrent Silviculture

I have been involved in the silviculture industry for the past 31 years. I started my career as a rookie in the summer of grade 11 and have planted in all corners of the province. I moved on to foremaning in 1993 with Blue Collar silviculture where I ran large crews for many years. Following foremaning I stepped up to Supervising and continued to run big planting camps in the Cariboo. I started Torrent Silviculture in 2007.

Planting has been my life. It has given me the freedom to pursue all my other interests for the last 30 some years including skiing, school and enjoying a lot of time in the mountains of BC where I still get my enjoyment and happiness today.

I hold high expectations for myself as well as my employees and try to provide the best working environment possible in the industry.  I strive to be an industry leader in the field of silviculture with the goal of being able to pass on my career to future generations.

Kevin Morris

Camp and Quad Guy

Hi, my name is Kevin and I have been working with Davin since the beginning of Torrent off and on as the primary camp and quad guy. Wherever there is a problem or maintenance required that’s where I’ll be. I now work year round for Torrent between the planting program, maintenance guy and Torrent’s logging operations throughout the winter. Born and raised in Horsefly BC, I now live in Quesnel BC with my lovely wife. During my time off I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, fly fishing, sledding and motorbiking.

Amanda Eisan

Hey y'all,

I've been with Torrent for ages doing a wide array of projects throughout the seasons. Planting, brushing, and beetle probing are my favorite work activities. In my downtime I love hanging with my dogs enjoying outside in a non-work way, skiing, and drinking too much coffee.

I'm looking forward to another amazing season in 2023, see you out there!

Misha Moravec

Crewboss

Hi current & future slashwalkers!

My name’s Misha, I’ve been involved in Silviculture for the past 18 years, 10 happily with Torrent where I also take part in post planting jobs. I started planting in the prairies & the following year made it to the forests of B.C where nowadays I work the springs, summers, and falls.

I’ve also planted in Ontario, & overseas in the U.K. & Australia. Planting has given me the opportunity to see many places and meet countless great individuals. I bring a strong work ethic, experience, & always strive for success in myself & others to reach their goals.

In my spare time I enjoy exploring the outdoors, travelling, hiking, playing sports, and skiing the winter away where I reside in Revelstoke. I’m excited and looking forward to what the 2023 season has to bring. Happy planting folks!

Checker / Safety Officer

Hello, my name is Hayley, and 2023 marks the big 10 for seasons spent in the bush! After years of year-round planting seasons and three years of crew bossing, I'm excited to be stepping into a new role once again. I'll be wearing several hats in Laurie's camp this season, from checking, to assistant supervising, to camp's primary first-aider, and even kitchen staff. When I'm not wearing one of those hats you can catch me kicking back in my 70's era camper van with my golden retriever Ducky.

Greg Targett

Crewboss

My name is Greg and I’ve been working in the forestry industry for thirteen years, six of which will be with Torrent. This will be my second season as a foreman.

I’ve planted mostly B.C.(including the island) but have also planted Alberta, Ontario and the U.K. Oh and one bag-up in Quebec but we dont have to talk about that!

It wasn’t until last year that I felt I had seen enough of the industry to be ready to be a foreman. Having spent all those years refining my skills as a planter I feel that I have a lot to offer in terms of helping planters meet their personal goals.

I will gladly share with you my love of music and drumming. I love terrible jokes and a good board game.

GO RAPS GO!

Gabe Shea

Crewboss

Hello, my name is Gabe. This will be my second year crew-bossing, first year with Torrent. I started planting in 2011- Back then I managed to stumble upon an ad on Kijiji looking for planters to work out west in BC. I was living in Halifax at the time; and had never heard of tree planting as a job. And so, with no idea what I was getting myself into; I applied and got accepted for a job with Apex. Ever since that fateful summer I kept coming back for each season with as much excitement and anticipation as the year before.

Aside from tree planting, I worked as a certified timber scaler for Québec, where I completed a forestry program.  I have a bit of a background in computer electronics. Passionate about sciences and philosophy- I spend my free time learning about that stuff. I also like playing violin, and doing some intense cross-country skiing during the winter.

Favourite movies:

I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to Torrent.
See y'all in the bush!

Kilty Elliott

Crewboss

My name is Kilty Elliott. I will be running a 6 pack with

Torrent Silviculture this season. This will be my first true season as a crew boss although I was able to get a taste of the job last fall with Torrent during their fall plant. This will be my fifth season planting trees in B.C. I’m super keen to get back out there and get back to work. Tree planting is what brought me out West 4 years ago and has provided me with the financial stability I need to travel, ski new mountains, and live the life that makes me happy. I believe that your success as a tree planter is a reflection of your work ethic. The more you put into this job, the more you will get out of it. I’m really looking forward to working with my crew this season while having a fun and lucrative season.

Interested in Working with Us?

Torrent strives to hire all levels of experience and ages for its planting operations. New workers are integral for the industry, and by incorporating them into our company it provides an element of sustainability for future seasons. We believe there are many advantages to having a diverse range of experience throughout our crews. Our more experienced workers are able to share knowledge that you can only get in the field with less experienced workers, ultimately helping to create a more safe and ready workforce. By promoting diversity within our crews, we hope to create an environment which prompts curiosity and open dialogue, where everyone can learn something new from each other.

While silviculture has had a reputation of being a college or university students' summer job which helps pay for their education, it has become a career for many of our employees. Due to its high paying work it can provide stability, community, and an ever-changing work environment for those involved. Torrent also offers post-planting work such as fire work, medic work, brushing, and slash pile burning. Silviculture as an industry is constantly changing, but one thing that is constant is its draw to creative, hardworking individuals who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.

Torrent is a SAFE certified company, meeting and exceeding highest safety standards within the industry. Through our training, dedicated crew bosses and supervisors, and in-depth anti-harassment training, we pride ourselves in creating a safe space for all genders, sexual orientations, races and religions.
